Responsible for maintaining and repairing various tools used within the facility by mechanics, assisting in the receipt of new tools, recommending tools be replaced or repaired, maintaining an inventory of tools in the repair area, and keeping track of tools in the TMS system so as to ensure accurate tool information.

        

Your Role

  • Receive tools into the tool repair area both physically and in TMS.
  • Evaluate what a tool needs in the way of repair.
  • Repair tools themselves, such as rivet guns, grease guns, and aircraft-specific tools.
  • Lookup on a computer the possible vendors for replacement parts.
  • Know how to access an aircraft ITEL or ITEM.
  • Recommend tools be replaced when the repair cost is too high, or roughly 60% of replacement.
  • Assist the Lead in receiving new tools into inventory.
  • Return tools to the proper location when repaired, both physically and in TMS
  • Adhere to safe working practices and keep a clean work area.
  • Issue tools in the TMS system as required during times of need.
  • Successfully complete any courses deemed necessary for interdepartmental positions (Stores, Tooling, Shipping, Receiving, etc.) authorized by the department manager and/or Training Department.
  • Perform any work that his/her supervisor may assign.

       

Qualifications & Skillsets

Good knowledge of basic tool repair, utilizing a computer as needed, and maintaining an inventory of tools in repair and repair parts for said tools.

      

Education & Experience

  •  High School Diploma or GED required.
  •  1-year experience as an aircraft mechanic or has worked as a tool repair technician in some capacity.
