The Interiors Manager shall be responsible to the Senior Director of Maintenance for the overall operation of the Interiors Department. He/she shall plan, direct, lay out, and coordinate the department's activities to minimize delays and maximize production and efficiency. The Interiors manager has the authority to establish and modify the processes and procedures associated with interior maintenance activities.

       

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Articulate, champion, and fiercely support the Company values and objectives when interacting with Company employees, customers, vendors, and other Company stakeholders.
  2. Manage the facilities, equipment, and the day-to-day administration of the department, including hiring, firing, promoting, and disciplining within the limits of approval of the Snr. Director, Maintenance consistent with published policies and procedures.
  3. Provide direct supervision, training, and safe operations of all Interiors personnel and ensure that all related activities are conducted in keeping with the best customer relations, documentation, and safety requirements, and Company policies and procedures.
  4. Coordinate, champion, and lead continuous improvement projects and initiatives for the continued efficiency and effectiveness of the department.
  5. Be up to date with all the aircraft maintenance progress in the facility so that adequate inter-departmental coordination can be achieved.
  6. Coordinates closely with the different Program and Project Managers to assess the Interiors manpower needs for each project and assign the manpower with the required skills as needed.
  7. Coordinates with the Human Resources and the Workforce Development Departments to address staffing needs.
  8. Coordinates with outside vendors and suppliers regarding subcontracted maintenance personnel and other routine and non-routine services subcontracted by the Repair Station as needed.
  9. Manages Interior mechanic’s career progression, On Job Training, and succession planning.
  10. Manages and coordinates the Interior mechanics’ Paid Time Off (PTO), Days Offs, and Shifts, among other administrative matters, to ensure that it aligns with the needs of the aircraft maintenance activities.
  11. Monitor and continually assess the training and qualifications of the Interiors mechanics to ensure that it meets the aircraft project needs.
  12. Train and assist his/her subordinates, including new hires and apprentices, in the proper procedures, methods, and practices to be followed in each respective duty.
  13. Review and recommend general tools and equipment needed to support Interior maintenance activities, including, but not limited to, aircraft jacks, servicing carts, and GSE.
  14. Maintain the premises of the Repair Station in a clean and orderly manner.
  15. Evaluate departmental operations, recommending improvements in quality, productivity, and employee relations. Implement programs and/or procedures that strive for excellence in quality as maintained by SAA’s Quality Assurance program. 
  16. Resolve departmental problems by identifying the problem, researching alternatives, analyzing the costs and benefits, implementing the best alternative, and evaluating the results.
  17. Comply with other duties and responsibilities defined in the Company Repair Station Manual.

      

JOB SPECIFICATIONS  

Good working knowledge or the ability to acquire skills in the following: 

The ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, by presenting ideas and giving instructions/guidance to subordinates, co-workers, supervisors, and outside agencies in a manner that instructions are carried out and requested information is obtained; ability to motivate and lead a staff or team of subordinates to obtain goals, higher productivity and quality work; the ability to delegate and prioritized work effectively; creative; persuasive. Must be able to access all areas of a aircraft.

     

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

BS or equivalent in training, education, and/or experience.

“A” license required.  “A&P” Certification is preferred.

     

EXPERIENCE

Five years of aircraft maintenance and 5 years of supervisory or management experience in a civil large transport aircraft environment.
