Your Role

Responsible for Mechanical Maintenance and repair on Commercial Aircraft types.

       

Responsibilities

  • Fully knowledgeable of all aircraft systems
  • Competent in all aspects of rig / adjustment / testing for all systems
  • Engine run certified
  • Can read and comply with complex drawings (SB, AD, etc.) with no supervision
  • Very effective troubleshooter
  • Understands company, customer, and regulatory guidelines
  • Capable of performing basic electrical system troubleshooting
  • Mentor, provides guidance, direction
  • Fully interacts with engineering to assist in troubleshooting complex systems

    

Job Specifications

In order to carry out the complex job duties of Aircraft Technologies Engineer, the individual must possess the necessary skill sets to be deployed to our project production, inspection and engineering departments to deal with an increasingly challenging technical and regulatory environment. The Aircraft Technologies Engineer at VTMAE will provide technical and/or team direction to heavy aircraft system design, maintenance, modification and reconfiguration activities to ensure airworthiness, structural integrity, system performance, safety and reliability. Specifically, the Aircraft Technologies Engineer will report directly to the Lead, and will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Perform project-related enhancements and modifications as aircraft manufacturers, airlines, or design agencies may introduce to enhance the aircraft performance or structural life;
  • Major modifications may include converting a passenger aircraft to freighter, converting the cabin layout to different configurations, or changing out an analogy cockpit display configuration to a digital or glass cockpit configuration;
  • Conduct document research, technical evaluation and analysis, parts research, fault isolation and troubleshooting, and data analysis;
  • Formulate work instructions and related work documentation to comply with FARs and Ads to resolve non-mandatory in-service issues, and update technical source documents as applicable to ensure accuracy;
  • Obtain approved data, acceptable data, and Alternate Methods of Compliance (AMOCs) for repairs, alterations and modifications;
  • Support integration of new and modified systems.
  • Work with personnel in production, quality control, engineering and planning in connection with project activities;
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic systems, air condition systems, pneumatic systems and report problems with recommendation for resolution.

Given the sophisticated nature of our operations, and the technical nature of our products, this position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in aircraft technology, aeronautical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field, along with relevant experience.

     

What You'll Need

    The duties of the professional position of Aircraft Technologies Engineer qualifies it as a “specialty occupation” in that it requires a theoretical and practical application of a body of highly specialized knowledge, including the attainment of at least a bachelor’s degree in aircraft technology or engineering (or its equivalent) as a minimum for entry into the occupation in the United States.

    The ability to accomplish major enhancements and complex modifications on an aircraft requires significant technical skills of the workers. Thus, an individual who is equipped with relevant engineering knowledge is required to understand the principles behind the airworthiness/modification requirements, while applying engineering principles to research, analyze, implement and test commercial aircraft electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, computer systems and associated structures. As such, in order to perform the highly specialized and complex duties of Aircraft Technologies Engineer, VTMAE and the industry in general, require that the individual filling this position possess a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in Aeronautical Engineering, Aircraft Technology, or a related field.
