JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for Structural maintenance and repair on Commerical Aircraft types.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Note: NOT a Remote Opportunity

Responsible for structural maintenance, repair and modification work on commercial transport-category aircraft.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Remove and replace aircraft components with special tooling following verbal and written instructions such as Crew Chief and Lead directives and manuals to complete all routine and non-routine assignments on time.
  • Perform the duties of and provide the necessary training for lower skill levels.
  • Maintain and store tools in a serviceable condition.
  • Adhere to safe maintenance practices and keep a clean work area.
  • Successfully complete any courses deemed necessary by the Training Department.
  • Perform any work that your Crew Chief and Lead may assign.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Good working knowledge of or ability to acquire skills in the following:

  • Experience reading and interpreting Boeing and Airbus drawings
  • Reading and understanding aircraft technical documentation, task cards
  • EWIS Protection - Cover and protect wiring and components
  • Wing plank repairs
  • Skin repairs
  • Door corner repairs
  • Wing spar repairs
  • Horizontal leading edge repairs
  • Wing leading edge repairs
  • Seat Track repairs
  • Floor beam repairs
  • Frame repairs
  • Drilling holes in aircraft structure and attaching brackets, hinges, braces, and clips
  • Locating, drilling, and installing panels
  • Corrosion removal techniques
  • Allowable damage evaluation
  • Use of calibrated measuring tools
  • Use of torque wrenches
  • Knowledge of ATA chapters
  • prolonged standing, working in confined spaces, and working at height.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Under supervision, perform structural and sheet metal repairs and modifications to aircraft, aircraft parts, and components according to manufacturer’s specifications and in compliance with FAA and other aviation regulations to maintain aircraft airworthiness in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Good interpersonal skills are required to maintain an effective relationship with co-workers and supervisors.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Moving around various sections of an aircraft requires the mobility and dexterity to access, repair, and replace parts. Must have mental skills and alertness to cope with stress, physical effort, and long working hours. Must gain knowledge by hearing for one’s safety due to the dangers involved in shop equipment operations. The working environment requires standing.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

A high school diploma or GED, with four years minimum experience in commercial aircraft heavy maintenance.

A&P license or specialized training desired.
