JOB SUMMARY:

NDT Trainee Inspectors shall be responsible to the Crew Chief of NDT for the actual performance of the setup, specific instrument calibration, specific tests, and specific evaluation according to written instruction and to record the results.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Attain the necessary classroom hours for Level II in PT, MT, ET, UT, and RT per NAS 410.
  2. Work towards attaining the necessary OJT hours for Level II in PT, MT, ET, UT, and RT per NAS 410.
  3. Work towards attaining 40 hours of Radiation Safety.
  4. Take and pass the State Radiation Safety Test.
  5. Complete formal training in NDT or attain 18 months of aircraft experience to obtain a Repairman Certificate from the FAA.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Good working knowledge or the ability to acquire skills in the following: The ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, by presenting ideas and giving instructions/guidance to subordinates, co-workers, supervisors and outside agencies in a manner that instructions are carried out and requested information is obtained; ability to motivate and lead a staff or team of subordinates to obtain goals, higher productivity and quality work; the ability to delegate and prioritized work effectively; creative; persuasive.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

The candidate should have strong math skills, work alone and in a team environment, and communicate well.  NDT Trainee will be exposed to a classroom and OJT environment.  The candidate shall be able to pass a background check and drug test.  The candidate may not have a color vision deficiency, ability to access various height levels, and ability to access and be contained in tight spaces measuring 18” x 10” for extended periods of time. 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

SUPERVISION: The NDT Trainee shall work with an NDT Level II or III at all times. At no time shall he/she be allowed to sign any paperwork.
