Your Role

The Lead shall be responsible to his/her Supervisor / Manager for the overall operation of his/her crew. The Leads duties shall be assigned / reassigned by his/her Supervisor / Manager. (The term Lead is encompassing all Leads in the Maintenance Organization I/A/W section 1.1.2.)

        

Responsibilities

  • Ensure each individual assigned to perform maintenance under his/her team is qualified to work on the assigned customer program and is capable of performing the job properly. This involves assessing if the individual meets the operator’s required training and the individual’s job function against the employee’s specific skills and knowledge.
  • Provide on-the-job training and technical assistance to personnel in his/her crew.
  • Evaluate the performance of personnel on his/her crew and make recommendations as necessary to his/her supervisor.
  • Perform only work authorized by his/her supervisor and ensure that the work is performed to the standards of good workmanship required by VT Mobile Aerospace Engineering, Inc. (VT MAE).
  • Ensure that all tools and equipment used by his/her crew are kept in serviceable condition and stored in an orderly manner.
  • Recommend to his/her supervisor any requirements or improvements for his/her crew.
  • Exercise control over stock checked out of Stockroom by employees on his/her crew.
  • Complete his/her crew timecards and approve all hours worked.
  • Report to his/her supervisor, with recommendations, any personnel problems that cannot be resolved satisfactorily within the crew.
  • Recommend disciplinary action within his/her crew.
  • Assist his/her supervisor as requested in the evaluation of non-routine work cards for parts, manhours and span time, and indicate corrective action.
  • Monitor, continuously, work progress. Keep his/her supervisor apprised of the status at all times, particularly on jobs that are off schedule. Assist his/her supervisor in preparation of the shift status and change-over reports.
  • Ensure all work tasks requiring a co-signer are properly signed by the end of their shift.
  • Perform any work that may be assigned by his/her supervisor.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from all Service Bulletins, AD's, EO's, & EA's
  • Provides assigned task planning / scheduling & ensures that goals are met
  • Ability to communicate with internal groups (Planning, Materials, Fabrication, ) concerning aircraft issues
  • Ability to communicate with Customers, Engineers, concerning work related to aircraft sheet metal tasks
  • Attentiveness & knowledge of assigned job budget as well as planned aircraft budget

         

Job Specifications

Proficient working knowledge in  all  lower  Sheet metal Job skill progression titles. Good working knowledge or ability to acquire the skills of a Lead Mechanic. Proficient working knowledge of the following skills and the ability to learn skills among various narrow and wide body commercial aircraft: Proficient detail blueprint reading, ability to read, interpret and work from service bulletins, engineering work orders, major S.R.M. structural repairs, ability to layout work using bend radius, set back and bend allowance charts, utilization of shop math, install and/or splice spars, landing gear, trunion changes, pressure bulkhead repairs and keal beam repairs/ removal and reinstall, knowledge of ATA codes, knowledge of all applicable F.A.R.’s and company policies and procedures including job clocking, routine/ non-routine cards, work sign-off/ sell-off procedures.

       

What You'll Need

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Airframe license and/or Repairman Certificate (must understand, read, and write English IAW CFR 14, Part 145)
  • 4 years heavy commercial maintenance experience.
