Responsible for Mechanical Maintenance and repair of Commercial Aircraft types.

       

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In charge of a crew of 20 or more. Able to prioritize what needs to be done daily. 
  • Remove and replace various aircraft components with special tooling and ground support equipment following verbal and written instructions such as supervisor’s directives and manuals to complete all routine and non-routine assignments in a timely manner.
  • Perform the duties of and provide the necessary training for lower skill levels.
  • Perform as Relief Lead assuming all Lead responsibilities in his or her absence.
  • Maintain and store various tools in a serviceable condition.
  • Adhere to safe maintenance practices and keep a clean work area.
  • Maintain and supply personal records of work performed on OJT forms for the Training Department.
  • Successfully complete any courses deemed necessary by the Training Department.
  • Perform any work that may be assigned by his or her supervisor.

   

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Proficient working knowledge of job specifications for Mechanic I and Mechanic II. The knowledge or ability to acquire the skills of Mechanic I, II, and III among various narrow and wide body commercial aircraft. Good working knowledge or ability to acquire the skills of a Lead Mechanic. 

Proficient working knowledge of the following skills:  Complex component replacement, power plant removal/ replacement supervisor, landing gear change main and nose, Aileron rigging, elevator rigging, stabilizer rigging, nose wheel steering rigging, spoiler rigging, flap rigging, rudder rigging, slat rigging, APU removal/ installation, wing/ tail engine change procedures, slat/ flap control cable change, horizontal stabilizer jackscrew replacement, flight control surface balancing procedure, engine trim procedures, throttle rigging, A/C towing supervisor/ tug operator, APU operation, Aileron lockout procedures, trim tab weight/balance, A/C pressurization procedures, cargo/ entry door rigging, troubleshooting hydraulic systems, air condition systems, pneumatic systems, knowledge of all aircraft manuals and related materials, knowledge of all applicable F.A.R.’s and company policies and procedures, knowledge of all paperwork procedures including job cards/ time cards, routine/ non-routine cards, S.R.M.’s, service bulletins, interpret and apply E.O.’s and work sign-off/ sell-off procedures.

     

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

SUPERVISION:

Under direction. Normally performs duties according to his or her own judgment, requesting supervisory assistance only when necessary. The assignment is frequently reviewed upon completion.

     

INTERPERSONAL RELATION:

A moderate level of interpersonal skills is required to maintain an effective relationship with co-workers and supervision.

   

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

Requires easy mobility around various sections of aircraft and the dexterity to remove and replace parts promptly. Requires mental skills and quickness with the ability to cope with stress and intense effort or exertion usually caused by long working hours. Must be able to gain knowledge by hearing for one’s safety due to the dangers involved. The working environment requires standing 90% of the workday on hard surfaces. Must be able to lift 50lbs. and report to work regularly.

     

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

High School diploma or GED required.

A&P license required.

     

EXPERIENCE:

Five years of transport category aircraft or related experience required. Presently Skill: Level III Mechanic. 

Previous Lead/Supervisory experience preferred; demonstrated leadership skills required.
