The Project Manager shall be directly responsible to the Director, Maintenance and/or Manager Program for the overall operation of the individual aircraft projects.

  

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete aircraft projects on time, on-budget, incident free, and with the level of quality that is consistent with the Company’s expectations.
  • As a business manager, lead the commercial aspects of the projects by ensuring that over-and-above labors hours expended on the project are reconciled with the customer prior to aircraft re delivery.
  • Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project. .
  • Determine the resources required to complete the project and develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities and ensures customer satisfaction.
  • Execute the project per the project plan.  Monitor the progress of the project and plan as necessary to ensure the successful and timely completion of the project.
  • Review the project schedule with senior management and all other staff that will be affected by the project activities; revise the schedule as required.  Ensure that all project personnel receive an appropriate orientation to the organization and the project and establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization on the progress of the project.
  • In consultation with the appropriate trade managers, deploy maintenance staff with the appropriate skills for the project activities and manage project staff and per the established policies and practices of the Company.
  • Direct work from all departments ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Ensure everyone assigned to perform maintenance under the project is qualified to work on the assigned customer program and can perform the job properly.  This involves assessing if the individual’s job function against the employee's skills and knowledge.
  • Monitor tasks ensuring man-hour accounting is taking place and that tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Interface with customer representatives and conduct and direct project status meetings with customer representatives and acquire all pertinent information for these meetings.
  • Cater and plan for customer needs and notify Company Customer Account Manager when customer dissatisfaction is observed.
  • Manage all work hours, including overtime hours, ensuring proper distribution and use of overtime hours, considering project schedule and budget.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area required for project success.
  • Work with stakeholders to determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at is completion.

  

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Good working knowledge or the ability to acquire skills in the following:  The ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, by presenting ideas and giving instructions/guidance to subordinates, co-workers, supervisors and outside agencies in a manner that instructions are carried out and requested information is obtained; ability to motivate and lead a staff or team of subordinates to obtain goals, higher productivity and quality work; the ability to delegate and prioritized work effectively; creative; persuasive.

  

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

SUPERVISION: 

The incumbent normally performs the duty assignment at his or her discretion and is limited only by policies set by administrative or legislative authority.  Total end results determine the effectiveness of job performance.

  

INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS:

A strong level of interpersonal skills is required to maintain an effective relationship among employees, various departments, management and the public.

    

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

Essential responsibilities are performed in a climate controlled office but not limited to the office.  Must be able to walk and stand 75% of an 8 hour work shift on average.  Must be able to cope with stress and mental exhaustion due to the pressures of accomplishing set goals, meeting short deadlines, maintaining numerous projects simultaneously, employee confrontations and long work hours.

  

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

2 years college/trade school preferred.

  

EXPERIENCE:

5 years commercial maintenance.

2 years lead or supervisory experience.
