Provide support to the Back Shop Crew Chief Accomplishes the parts fabrication and outside services contracted with VT SAA, including liaison with Project Managers, customers and related departments.

  

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accomplish initial entries and assist in maintaining the Parts Fabrication & Outside service Status Report on the Aircraft Information Management System (AIMS)
  • Assist PSS researchers in calculating parts fabrication costs.
  • Liaison between PSS researchers and customers for approval of fabrication and outside service costs.
  • As required, coordinate with production personnel to resolve problems that may arise in the parts fabrication request process.
  • Retrieve sample parts and documents from production work areas.
  • Deliver fabrication documents and sample parts to back shop locations.
  • Transport priority parts to and from vendor locations. 
  • Maintain drawing database to ensure correct revision level of drawings.
  • File and maintaining files of fabrication documents.
  • Assist in Fabrication Billing Process.
  • Route parts to Materials Shipping.
  • Retrieve parts from Materials Receiving.
  • Coordinate with Materials Purchasing in the creation of Purchase Orders (P.O.)
  • Assist the Back Shop Department as required by management staff.
  • Attend Weekly PSS group meeting and record minutes of each meeting for future reference.

   

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Good working knowledge or the ability to acquire skills in the following:

Working knowledge of all aircraft manuals and related materials; working knowledge of aircraft maintenance and non-destructive testing; knowledge of all paperwork procedures including job cards/time cards, routine/non-routine cards, S.R.M.’s, and work sign-off procedures; familiar with F.A.R.’s and company policies and procedures; Knowledge of AD’s, service bulletins and all operator letter (AOL); ability to acquire knowledge of computer mainframe and software applications; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department heads and customer representatives.

  

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

SUPERVISION

Under general direction.  Performs assignments after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results.  Some opportunity for discretion when making selections among a few, easily identifiable choices.  Assignment usually reviewed upon completion.

  

INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS

A strong level of interpersonal skills is required to maintain an effective relationship between various departments, management and customer representatives.

    

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

Essential responsibilities are performed in a climate-controlled office but not limited to the office.  Must be able to cope with stress and mental exhaustion due to the pressures of accomplishing set goals, meeting short deadlines, maintaining numerous projects simultaneously, employee confrontations and long work hours. Must be able to climb work stands and access all parts of the aircraft. Must be able to do extensive walking in an industrial/production floor environment, sometimes in inclement weather. Able to lift up to 40 lbs. 

    

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

High School diploma.  

Valid Driver’s License

    

EXPERIENCE

1-2 years commercial aviation, preferably repair station oriented, general knowledge of A/C maintenance - maintenance planning.
